WAYS TO IMPROVE LIFE OF YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPENER

1. Prevent rusting
Garage doors are subjected to a lot of terrible climate especially when it rains or snows which is why rust on the springs, hinges and rollers is common. It is therefore recommended that you oil all moving parts of your garage door. Start by oiling all the rollers because they will direct the oil into the bearings. Then oil all other moving parts. Don’t forget the springs and hinges. Silicon spray is a recommended lubricant. This will prevent this parts from rust when exposed to moisture

2. Regular checkList 
It is important to make sure that all parts are in good condition and are working properly. Check the rollers and replace any of the rollers that are spoilt or worn out. Take a look at the nuts and bolts that hold the roller tracks in place. Tighten if any of them are loose. You may use a wrench for this. Make sure the ins of the tracks are clean. If they have a buildup of dust or crud, use a clean fabric to eliminate the dust and crud. The roller tracks should also tidy. Use an automobile disc brake cleaner to spray the tracks and clean them using a washcloth. Also ensure that the tracks are appropriately straightened using a level. They need to slant a little down to your garage door. These checks should be done regularly.

3. Avoid necessary usage
Every physical things is exposed to wear and tear when used often. This is true for the garagedoor opener. Avoid opening and shutting you garage door if you do not need to. Make sure your children do not play with the door because opening and shutting the doors may seem like a fun thing to do when they are bored. This will lessen chances of the garage door opener wearing out faster.

4. Service your door 
Once in a while, say once a year; call a local door specialist for normal service. As stated above regular checks will significantly improve the useful life of your garage door and garage door opener but there are things that can be missed by an inexperienced eye. You may find that the service avoided a much more pricey trouble from ever taking place. The professional should make you familiar with any type of troubles that were fixed or looking for correction at the time of service.

5. Buy Quality Products
When replacing parts of your garage door opener, ensure that you buy quality products that will not spoil easily. Also ensure that they are compatible with your garage door. Buying the wrong type of, say, springs will make it break easily.
